Why I’m making Familiar.
Because the productivity apps I tried made me feel worse, and I couldn’t find one that didn’t. Because people deserve tools that meet them where they are. Because I think a companion can do something a streak counter can’t.
About me

Familiar is, for now, just me. That has its limits and its advantages. The limits: things move at one person’s pace, and I’ll never out-feature a venture-backed competitor. The advantages: every decision in this app has a person behind it who actually cares.
Helper, not manager.
This is the line I keep coming back to. Most productivity apps act like a manager — assigning tasks, tracking compliance, evaluating output. I wanted to build something that acts like a helper instead — paying attention, offering what it can, getting out of the way when you don’t need it.
What that means in practice:
No negative feedback anywhere in the product. Ever.
No streak you can fail at.
No suggestions while you're already in the middle of something.
No scores. No grades. No completeness percentages.

Where we are.
Familiar is in private beta. The core of the experience — your familiar, the dials, habits, suggestions, timer, calendar, journal, and wellness check-ins — is built and working on web and mobile. A handful of supporting systems are still on the way.
